at times when i wanted to cry so bad but i can't, it hurts even to bite my lips holding it.

i am not a bandage to cover your wounds, nor a comfortable seat where you lay only when you feel like it.

ya Allah, jadikanlah hambaMu ini orang yang sabar.

quick update

i wasn't quite sure what actually happened the other day when i signed in my blogger page. what i was sure of is that the blogger clearly wasn't performing its best cause my blogroll was (again) deleted! urghhh

because it was so frustrating, i just decided to leave it like that and make it back to normal later. never it is fun to dig all around looking for my links all over again tsk tsk

anyways.
how ironic it is to know that i last updated in:sights:out a day before the fasting month and now, half of syawal has already passed by.
you must have been very dusty dear bloggy..
(still not a valid reason for you to eat up my widget tho)

even facebook seems to have gotten a bit crowded lately cause i've had a hard time logging into the site let alone update it (hence being unable to upload my aidilfitri photos) -_-"

the first of syawal to be celebrated abroad, i believe most of us will find it different in many ways (as compared to raya back in my hometown la kan) but i guess that shouldn't stop anyone to enjoy it still :)
there were a number of open houses here too, although marginally smaller than in Malaysia. made me go all excited with the invitations due to the limited number of open houses hahaha padahal waktu kat malaysia dulu orang ajak pergi open house sampai tak lalu dah heh
but in all, i had fun. and was it just me or did the fasting month really went that fast? hmm.

ok ok that's for now. hopefully i will find the drive to repair that blogroll. see you later ;)

picspam

I've been working up till late hours at night for this past few days. Three assignments are to be submitted next Wednesday;two photos for KVB104 and one microteaching session for EDB351.
with the excursions and microteaching rehearsals and what not - my hands are all over the place.
:-B
...

nonetheless, hehe

friday 21st of August, 2009
eve of ramadhan

I went out with the girls to visit Kak Fariza's new baby girl at her house in West End. The cute little darling Fatimah is about 2 months old now, and already looking oh so radiant. and her big sis and big bro pun comel lagi mendengar kata hehe. sejuk perut Kak Fariza :)

Kak Fariza and her family are going back to Malaysia for good this coming October. Wishing you the merriment of life, kak :)

We then went to Kak Linda's house in St. Lucia. Her place is quite far from ours so we didn't really have the chance to go there as often. But Kak Linda do come by our place occasionally to join the weekly Yaasin recital.

We were running late for Jo, our program coordinator's surprise birthday celebration but luckily Pavi was very very intricate in planning so the event turned out to be as expected. We planned to celebrate it earlier but was then brought forward because Jo was not feeling well.

Jo was indeed very surprised with the whole thing :) She's 66 this year.

Jo was not the only one getting birthday cakes on that day :)
Jiji (eh rhyming initial pulak) turned 21 on the 22nd of August. So we had a mini surprise for her :)
Since most of our friends who celebrated their birthdays here were thrown with surprise parties and cakes, we thought that doing yet another go with that routine would be quite predictable if not dreary.
Hence the cake only came out at 1 am teehee (itu je twist nye)

A simple celebration, a gathering of friends; here is wishing you great happiness, a joy that never ends
=)

hmm that's all i guess.
Next event on the list is whale watching (tomorrow!) Fine. Next event is assignments submission =.=
Brisbane's temperature is rising up like madly and it's fasting month.. but I don't think i should decline the ninety-dollars-worth offer either.
Let's just pray that I won't dwell on the worry of dehydrating too much that i go dehydrated even before the boat sails. talk about psychological effects on anxious minds tsk tsk
till then, stay tuned!

;)

a week in review

lambat post lagi.
biar lambat asalkan ingat :p

Kekasih Semalam the theatre was staged last Saturday & Alhamdulillah, everything went well. would say that it was worth the sweat. i was very lucky to have such supportive crew members hehe thanks girls!
didn't take much pictures of the play though, i was busy backstage.

Safura and Nana of Griffith University baked about 60 pieces of cupcakes for the team :D

&& We went for school visit on the 19th!! my groupmates (hani, shiha, zam, andi, nija & I) were assigned to visit Bulimba State School, which is about two zones from our place. i think ours was the farthest among the rest of our classmates. really enjoyed the visit though i can't deny that i was so nervous to meet them (and their teachers).
i still have two more visits to the school so i guess i'll understand the local education scene much better (for me to comment on) by then.

and i got a cupcake from birthday boy Joshua. comeyllnyeeee budakkkk :)
will be coming back to Bulimba in two weeks time. and that will be during puasa. challenging nih

And that evening, i went to Kangaroo Point with syafa and the guys for Ainul & Ariff's bday bash. got my hands Milo the oh-so-famous cat, finally! (p/s: Milo's fame came from the self-titled fan club and the hand-sewn baju raya Ainul made) hahha. how can a cat be soo cute and decent!! (brownie points for the decent part hehe :)

credits to syefah for the samosa. [edited: ainul made the pavlova herself]
and i don't know what happened but everyone were so spirited! dahla syefah menang fusbal entah berapa kali. i've lost count :D

On Thursday, 20th of August, was when we practised taking pictures using studio lights for our Photomedia unit. two of the unit's assignment are to be handed in on the 2nd of September (the same day my Microteaching session is about to take place), so i gotta get working on it real quick or else i might just end up depriving from sleep. huhuthat's Devin, one of our tutorial mates. i'm still having a hard time adjusting all those tiny little features of the camera, of the white balance and the exposure and what not. Aten's version of a similar shot got Victoria, our lecturer, very impressed. theehe
for any unyielding cases, let me just opt for the Auto setting, can i? :p

Friday the 21st; a number of events took place on this day. i went out with the girls to visit Kak Fariza in West End and Kak Linda in St. Lucia before heading back to uni to celebrate Jo's birthday. i think i should better off unpacking the deets in the next post ye ;)

more tales

hello there :)

the past week has been quite smooth-sailing but am expecting it to be busier for the coming weeks.

1. the Merdeka-themed theater produced by MASCA and MySA will be staged at La Boite Studio this 15th, so the remaining days before Saturday will be packed with rehearsals.

this time i'm in charge for the costumes :)
nothing big compared to what Fikri had done for A Midsummer Night's Dream back then but for the sake of trying something new, saya menyahut seruan Syefah! (eceh!)
nothing involving sewing a new kebaya, really, but i guess it is more to the challenge of getting our own national clothes as they are (obviously) limited in Brisbane.
Therefore, thank you Chinatown. hehe

2. Ekka's rocking Brisbane city this week! Ahmad said that the gang had already bought the tickets and are planning to go this Wednesday. Not denying that I too, am eager to tag along - but it's public holiday on that day so the exhibition must've been jam-packed. hmmmm

3. and talking about Wednesdays; last week's TESOL Methodology class saw Nija's duo as well as Mun Ting, Pavi and Denish present their Microteaching sessions. it was enjoying! (especially the part where we can act up as Year 3 kids hehe). yes, even after the third week of this unit with Erika Hepple, i still think that she is someone whom you should really have a resolute mind to deal with. whuah aliaa, peringatan untuk diri sendiri. *grins*
and since this week's class is off, we'll be having our first classroom observation next week. can't wait!

4. despite the towering unit tasks (which i am not so proud of having) on my desk, i managed to steal some time to rack up the coloured foams i bought some time ago into little alphabets (which i am kinda proud of at the moment. hehe)
couldn't get the idea of what i'm saying? takpe2. you're not the only one. -_-"

the foam
the pattern
carving
taraa :)

notice that i actually printed the word 'captured' but ended up with 'dad' instead?
let's just say that i suddenly thought an eight-letter word was too much to carve out. too ambitious for a first attempt. :p

5. oh did i mention what i got for friendship day?
signed-sealed-delivered

a postcard from up above the sky. or in this case, up above the stairs ;) thank you little miss "ek ek ek ek" (or is it already changed to "fine~"?) *gelak berterabur*

last but not least, Ema sent me a parcel :))

i have no idea why she called the card she wrote as a 'warning letter' -that if i forget them girls then i'd might as well get another warning letter? as long as you keep the letters coming then, bestie. :p

and what would be more heartwarming than a handmade card and a personalised carry bag with our names on it??
you girls la. haih :')

terribly missed

much thanks ema :))
although us friends usually get in touch via the virtual space, the original snail mails have never failed to impress me. tsk tsk.
p/s: this is a hint. haha

rewind.

on 25th June, 2009
went to Movie world with jiji, khirol, shiha & syafa. it was for the 2nd time, after the first one with the macquarians.
this time around, i rode superman escape & scooby doo coaster :>
man was it scary! whoever told me that it was fun haa? ha??
i forced myself to put on the gleeful grin so that i wouldn't look that miserable in the photo, solely on the basis that i don't have to ride it all over again. nonetheless, the photos still look very, very weird. -_-"
swore on my feet i'll never ride it again. tapi kalau orang tanya pernah naik ke tak, bolehla sengih sengih sambil angguk-angguk kepala. hahaha

superman escape
wild west falls

but we didn't get the chance to watch the much talked-about Stunt Driver Show that day. So Shiha and I decided to come again on the 29th :)
the pavilion was packed to the brim during our session, but i think it was worth it!

we won a soft toy from a mini game we played there. shiha was, obviously, over the moon with that little rhino ;)

joined the International Students Service trip to Byron Bay on 27th June.
to say that the trip was not worth the 35aud paid would be pretty vague, considering that we travelled all the way to the neighbouring state, NSW during this trip. but i'd prefer if they didn't include the Crystal Castle visit - it was not literally a Crystal Castle (much to the dissappointment of Kak Nora ;), rather a place which sells jewellery made of crystal and spiritual statues deemed to bring serenity and peacefulness to the place.

as for syafa, she really did find peace- at a nearby playground. X)

the highlight of the trip would be Cape Byron Lighthouse. sadly my camera ran out of battery once we arrived there. *tsk tsk*
luckily them girls & khirol brought theirs. Cape Byron lookout point is located on the most easternly point of the Australian mainland, by which we witnessed the stunning views of the hinterland and the ocean :)

the rest of the pics are taken by khirol. much thanks!

& on 1st July, 2009
the Auckies arrived!
we had dinner together with Batip's belated birthday celebration. please welcome;

aiman, chuna, illie, cikin & fatin
sha,the birthday girl & yen :)

more to come!
